Rosewood logs seized

Madikeri: Twe nty-six logs of rosewood, which were cut and illegally transported from Karike in Kodagu, were seized from an estate in Odavalli in Kerala. The forest staff, led by Karike sub-zonal officer P T Shashi, raided the estate and seized the logs before being brought to Kodagu. Shri Kumar and Jaikumar Nair, who were hiding in a rubber estate at Karike, have been arrested. Three other accused - Puthan, manager of the rubber estate, Biju Mathew and lorry driver Abskar - are absconding. tnn
