Yaduveer helps reopen MNGT road for traffic
Mysuru: Mysore MP Yaduveer Wadiyar on Wednesday facilitated the reopening of the Mysuru New Goods Terminal (MNGT) Road for traffic, bringing major relief to truck operators and transport workers who struggled with the closure of the crucial route for several years.
Responding to a petition submitted by MNGT Lorry Owners Association, he resolved the long-pending issue within 10 days. Following an on-site inspection and discussions with railway authorities, steps were taken to reopen the terminal road and restore smooth vehicular movement in the area. Due to the closure, trucks were previously forced to travel an additional four to five kms, leading to increased fuel consumption, travel time and operational expenses.
Yaduveer Wadiyar said the reopening of the bypass-style terminal road would significantly reduce transportation costs. He said the decision would benefit hundreds of truck operators and improve the overall movement of goods vehicles in Mysuru.
Clarifying concerns raised among the public, he firmly said there are no plans to shift MNGT from its present location. He said the terminal would continue functioning at the same site and would also be utilised for the maintenance of Vande Bharat Express trains.
MNGT Lorry Owners’ Association secretary Shahid expressed gratitude to the MP for taking swift action on an issue that remained unresolved for years. He noted that more than 600 trucks use the route daily and said the reopening would greatly reduce fuel expenses and unnecessary travel for drivers and transport operators.
