Antaragni 3.0: Budding artistes dance for a cause

NAGPUR: Stepping up the pace on the philanthropic front, ‘Sankalp — Nayi Soch Nayi Umeed’ organized the 3rd edition of their fund-raising event ‘Antaragni: Dance for a Cause’ on Sunday. Budding dancers of the city enthralled the audience with their performances at Deshpande Hall, Civil Lines.

dancer Pooja Hirwade and Sankalp president Abhijeet Jha, the programme aimed at raising funds to provide aid for the education for daughters of deceased farmers. Nagpur University vice-chancellor SP Kane was the chief guest while South Central Zone Cultural Centre director Deepak Khirwadkar and Bharatanatyam guru Ratnam Janardhan were the guests of honour. Corporators Nishant Gandhi and Kamlesh Chaudhary were also present.

performance, an amalgamation of Tandava and Lasya forms, by Pooja and Arjun Nair to seek blessings of Lord Ganesha and Lord Shiva. Their skilful footwork incorporated with intricate rhythmic patterns captured the essence of the graceful form of dance.

Shraddha Hirwade, Jaidev Pahade, Saumitra Mardikar, Gauri Hirwade and Arjun had the audience in awe with a variety of Western dances like on retro music. A well choreographed contemporary dance with the underlying theme of water conservation on the song ‘Behne de’ from the movie ‘Raavan’.

The highlight of the show was unique classical themes like Kali Tandav and Mayil Thillana performed beautifully by Pooja, Anija Nair, Gauri, Rutuja Wankhede, Vinisha Nair, Nimisha and Sharwari Patil.

Vaghya Murali and the vibrant Rajasthani folk dances like Chirmi, Ghoomar and Kalbeliya were presented by Sachin Dabhnekar, Swapnil Khare and team. The dance performances were followed by songs in the melodious voice of Anurag Ladse and shayari recitation on the theme of farmers as Azeem Khan took to the stage.

The show wrapped up with a thematic act showcasing the life of a farmer. Every member of the audience who attended the show was presented with a return gift in the form of a sapling to mark Sankalp’s another ongoing initiative ‘Har ghar paudha abhiyaan’. All the performing artistes were felicitated by the guests. Manish Nair conducted the proceedings.

Through the social cause Rs75,000 was donated to Deen Dayal Prasarak Mandal for the education of girl children of deceased farmers and Rs15,000 to an individual distressed farmer family.
