NAGPUR: Students of

Dr TS Wilkinson Memorial School

at Godhni got a pleasant surprise after cops from

Mankapur police

station, especially ACP, Sadar division,

Rekha Bhaware

delivered a message among youngsters with role play on the occasion of

Children’s Day

on Thursday.

With the theme of bridging communication gap and developing a people-friendly police image, the cops earned appreciation from the students and teachers alike with their unscripted act.

ACP Bhaware and senior PI Vazeer Shaikh of Mankapur police station and their teams were divided into two squads after a formal meeting with the principal. While PI Shaikh played the usual role of a cop visiting the school, ACP Bhaware played a double role in the unscripted drama.

In the first role, Bhaware played a teacher who was introduced to the students as someone who has just joined the school. Bhaware, who had worn a sari on her uniform, managed to convince the students who started greeting her “Good morning ma’am”.

After a while, Bhaware returned in the make-up of an elderly woman whom the students started believing too before calling her as ‘auntie’. In the last phase, Bhaware returned in uniform to leave the students amazed. She later explained to students that cops are none but citizens in uniform who are friendly too.
