‘Geet Hindi Saaz Bangla’ presents mellifluous songs

NAGPUR: Swarshilpa’s musical event ‘Geet Hindi Saaz Bangla’ presented mellifluous songs composed by Bengali musicians, at Scientific Society Hall , Laxmi Nagar, on Sunday evening.


The group offered Hindi songs with a touch of Bengali language. The Bengali attire of the singers complimented the theme.

Bhagyashree Baraskar fired the opening salvo with mesmerizing ‘O sajana barkha bahar’. Sarita Puradbhat’s ‘Ae ri pawan dhunde kise tera mann’ from the movie ‘Bemisal’ followed by Sarita Pandit’s ‘Pocho na kaise’ left the audience longing for more.

Duet performance of ‘Achha ji mei hari’ by singers Manjiri Thakur and Vaishali Khandait received great response. ‘Roop tera mastana’ by Nandini Patankar too evoked wonderful response.

’ were appreciated by the audience to the core. Peppy notes of ‘Aao na gale lagao na’, ‘Gunguna rahe hain’, ‘Piya tu’ and ‘Yaar bina chain’ upped the ante.

The event concluded with presentation of songs like ‘Nahi nahi abhi nahi’, ‘Jahan pe savera ho’, ‘Mere sapno ki rani’, ‘Yeh jawani hai deewani’ and few other beautiful songs.

Other singers on the stage were Nita Bhave, Chandana Pal, Manjusha Joshi, Sandip Joshi, Devyani Joshi, S Buty, Devika Buty, Meghana Joshi, Vayankatesh Buty and Suwarna Phadke.

Parimal Joshi on keyboard, Nandu Gohane on octopod, Aniket Dahekar on tabla, Ritesh Tiwari on guitar and Tanu Gajhula on guitar provided the background music.

The programme was conceptualized by Baraskar, who also played the harmonium. Anchoring was done by Shweta Shelgaonkar.
