Speaking at the start of a ten-day interactive workshop for budding actors at his

Ramkrishna Nagar

residence, Pendse said that superstars or actors who gain fame are masters in at least one of the aforesaid qualities. “Proper bend of emotions, dialogue delivery, make-up and movement would mean that you can act well,” he told the budding actors. He gave the example of megastar Amitabh Bachchan who is standing on a high pedestal with his extraordinary acting, dialogue delivery and swift body movement. These qualities made him a versatile actor.

Pendse also spoke on the difference between a theatre and a film actor. “Theatre is more alive form of acting where actors get spontaneous reactions from the audience. These actors can also see for themselves how they are performing in a play. But, in case of a movie, what the audience sees is the acting done months or years before it is screened. Actors in films have to go through many retakes till the director is satisfied,” he said. Observation and imagination are also important for an actor to succeed, he said.

Jyoti Dhakate

, who is attending the workshop, said, “I always thought that I could do acting and felt I have energy for it. I am a tours and travel manager, but I am trying my luck in acting,” she said.

Harsha Naigaonkar

, a former air hostess, too had a similar feeling. “After getting married, I thought I could try my luck in this field and so I am here,” she said.
