Schoolbuzz editors from Podar International School visit TOI
Nagpur: It was an enlightening experience for the Schoolbuzz editors from Podar International School, Besa, who got an opportunity to visit the Times of India office on Monday. Certificates for this year’s buzz were handed over to the students during their visit. Also, they got to interact with the TOI staff wherein they got a glimpse about the actual working of the newspaper. All the students were glad to share their experiences regarding their involvement in working for the Buzz edition.
Siddharth Karnik, a student editor, said, “Schoolbuzz was an unforgettable experience. I not only improved my writing skills but also learnt how to manage tasks which was a lot of fun.” Another student editor, Tanya Singh was of the thought that Buzz gave her a real time experience about how journalism is. She also said that she has a good time preparing interview questions as it improved her thinking ability.
“I did the section wherein I asked other students about their opinion regarding a particular topic. I loved listening to their opinion and gaining a new perspective on it. Buzz was fun in addition to learning,” said Bhakti Raut, one more student editor.
School principal Zeenat Syed was of the view that Buzz section is something the school students eagerly wait to read as it covers variety of topics. “Schoolbuzz improves students’ questioning skills, listening skills, writing skills and builds up their confidence as well. It enhances the overall personality of the students which is very important,” added Syed. Shreesha Nair, faculty coordinator of Schoolbuzz, conveying her opinion on Buzz, said, “It is an amalgamation of everything and I feel along with the students even I have learnt many things and have improved over these years.”
Parents were very proud of their kids and were glad about the improvement their wards have shown. Teacher Tejaswini Bhagwatkar and mother of editor Isha, said that, “Buzz is a good platform for students to showcase their talent and a great exposure for the kids”. Vidya Raut, mother of editor Bhakti, while conveying her thoughts told, “I was proud to see my daughter’s name in the newspaper but I was happier about the fact that she now writes more confidently than before and she has even started reading more.” Further, Arun Bandurkar, father of editor Om, also shared his views. He was very happy to see that this activity got his son seriously thinking about what he wants to be in future. “I feel privileged that my ward was a part of an activity carried out by TOI. I feel such activities should take place every year so that all the students get to be participate to be a better self,” said Vivek Wangikar, father of editor Atharva.
