SNDT Women’s University sends 6,500 rakhis for Gadchiroli cops

district for the cops serving in the Maoist-affected district through initiatives taken by faculty and students of

SNDT

Women’s University, Churchgate, Mumbai.

On Independence Day, the rakhis were tied to cops by the wives, mothers and family members of the martyred jawans in presence of the senior police officials including SP

Shailesh Balkawade

. Additional SPs Mohit Garg and Ajay Kumar Bansal were also present.

The rakhis were sent as part of a social initiative ‘Krutadnyata’ or gratefulness, to express gratitude to the persons who are engaged in serving society and nation.

In Gadchiroli, cops have been safeguarding democracy and also well-being of the tribal population in the difficult terrains of the district. The SNDT team was guided by vice-chancellor Shashikala Wanjari, registrar Deepak Deshpande and other senior faculty members.

Girl students from several educational institutions of Gadchiroli were also present at the police headquarters to tie rakhis to the cops. Senior level officials are serving in this district away from their family.
