Spartan girls, DKM boys win U-10 talent hunt basketball league titles

Nagpur: Spartan Sports Academy girls and host Dharampeth Krida Mandal boys clinched the Prakash Rajurkar Memorial U-10 talent hunt basketball league titles at the DKM court in Shankar Nagar on Thursday.In the girls' final, Spartan defeat DKM 10-6 in a low-scoring match to deny the home team a double title. Prisha Nagmote scored 7 points and Punarvi Nakshine contributed 2 for Spartan, while Ovi Pande fired all the 6 points for DKM.
In the boys' final, DKM rallied splendidly to outclass Pande Layout Sporting Club (PLSC) 22-8. After trailing 2-6 in the 1st quarter, DKM shut out PLSC 6-0 in the 2nd quarter to lead by 2 points at half-time. DKM then dominate the second half, winning the remaining quarters 6-2 and 8-0 to regiater an emphatic 14-point title triumph.For the winners, Advik Waghmare scored a game-high 12 points while Chaitanya Godbole (6) and Agrim Karandikar (4) netted timely baskets. For PLSC, Aarav Savarkar fought a lone battle of eight points.Earlier on Wednesday, Spartan Academy boys defeated Nutan Bharat Yuwak Sangh (NBYS) 7-3 and Nagpur Amateur Sports Association (NASA) girls blanked Gurudeo Nagar Krida Mandal (GKM) 17-0 to finish third in the league.Later prizes were distributed Ashwini Jichkar, corporator and chairman of Public Works at NMC.
