Wadkar casts magic spell on Day 3 of Khasdar Mahotsav
NAGPUR: Evergreen singer Suresh Wadkar touched every soul present at IDCPE ground with soulful presentations on Day 3 of Khasdar Sanskritik Mahotsav on Sunday. Wadkar and his troupe, made ‘Surmayee Sham’ every bit memorable for all as he dished out ghazals, Bollywood songs and abhangs with élan.

“I have performed in Nagpur earlier and each time the audience amazes me. I am happy to see so many spectators today,” said Wadkar, adding, “I am very grateful to Nitin Gadkariji for inviting me to Khasdar Mahotsav. We share a very special bond of friendship. I congratulate him for holding such a big cultural event for music, dance and theatre.”
Wadkar presented some of his classic songs which include romantic numbers and ghazals as well. Impeccable presentation of ‘Phir kuch nahi hai bhata’ and ‘Aur is dil mein’ evoked a vociferous ‘once more’ reaction from the audience. Thereafter, ‘Lagi aaj sawan ki fir wo jhadi hai’ attracted huge round of applause from the attendees.
He also didn’t miss on serving ear-pleasing ghazals turning the atmosphere Sufi. Through ‘Seene mein jalan aakhon mein toofan sa hai’ he took those present to a different plane.
Wadkar was accompanied by his student Surbhi Khekhade (of Nagpur) who sang a solo abhang on Vitthal ‘Sundar te dhyan ubhe vitewari’ which was followed by another abhang by Wadkar ‘Aamhi anande’.
Wadkar’s daughter Ananya also presented a hit number ‘Ye moh moh ke dhaage’ and later sang a duet ‘Megha re megha re’ with her father. Surbhi and Ananya then added glitz to the show with a peppy number ‘Hansta hua nurani chehra’.
In all this action, Wadkar didn’t forget to sing Khasdar Mahotsav’s creator Union minister Nitin Gadkari’s favourite song ‘Kahin door jab din dhal jaye’ following it with ‘Tum jo mil gaye ho’.
Earlier, the programme began with Wadkar and Gadkari lighting the lamp in the presence of mayor Sandip Joshi, president of SCZCC Deepak Khirwadkar and Ravindra Thakre. Gadkari felicitated Wadkar with shawl, memento and bouquet.
