St Joseph’s Convent, St Ursula School crowned champs in ELC carol singing
Nagpur: Yuwak Yuwati Sangh of Evangelical Lutheran Church (ELC), Civil Lines, celebrated its Youth Sunday, on Dec 8, the second Advent Sunday by organising its 24th carol singing competition with great enthusiasm like earlier years.St Ursula Girls High School were the winners in the junior category, whereas St Joseph's Convent (Kingsway) and SFS School of Excellence, Seminary Hills, finished first and second runners up respectively. In the senior category, St Joseph's Convent emerged winners while St Ursula High School and Jr College and SFS School of Excellence were first and second runners up respectively.Vijay Madya, DCP, traffic, delivered a short awareness speech on traffic and cybercrime and also shared the helpline number (1930). The Judges for the junior category were Stefan Mathew, Reyon Xavier and Padma Jain whereas the senior category was judged by Pastor Anup Salve, Madhu F Paul and Sajid Qureshi. The winners and runners up were awarded rolling trophies and cash prizes by the judges along with Rev Ashish Singh, Salil Lawrence and S Mundoo. The programme concluded with a vote of thanks by Arpit David, convenor, youth group and prayer and benediction by Rev Ashish Singh. All the youths and members of the Nagpur congregation of EL Church joined hands for the success of the programme which was supported by Mahindra LMM Provincial Automobiles, Dayal Trading and Angel Caterers. In all, 19 teams participated in the colourful and joyful evening.Teams from Sunday School — Evangelical Lutheran Church, Priyadarshini Nagpur Public School, St Joseph's Convent-Kingsway, St Ursula Girls High School, St John's School, Mount Carmel School and SFS School Of Excellence in juniors and in senior category groups from Evangelical Lutheran Church, Nagpur Union Church, Mount Carmel Sr, Mary Queen of Apostles Church, St Ursula Girls High School and Jr College, Jagruti Prarthana Bhavan, St John's School Sr, St Thomas Church, St Joseph's Convent-Kingsway Sr, Carolian Choir — St Charles Seminary, Pillar Niketan and SFS School of Excellence Sr gave beautiful performances to make the evening a feel of joy of Christmas. All the teams spread the message of love, hope and good news for mankind.
