Industries pledge Rs35cr CSR funds for Kumbh Mela
Nashik: The industries based in Nashik have come forward to fund key civic and pilgrim-centric infrastructure for the upcoming Kumbh Mela through CSR initiatives, complementing the govt's ongoing development efforts for the mega religious event.Among the major contributions, Vishvaraj Foundation which is backed by VEL, committed Rs28 crore for the installation and long-term operation of a sustainable water purification system at Kushavarth Kund in Trimbakeshwar.The project, planned for a 25-year period, aims to improve water quality for pilgrims taking ritual baths while ensuring environmental sustainability. Public sector lender Central Bank of India pledged Rs4.13 crore to develop a comprehensive wayfinding and signage system across Nashik and Trimbakeshwar.The system will include directional, informational and safety signages to assist pilgrims and tourists during the Kumbh.Infrastructure firm Ashoka Buildcon signed an MoU worth around Rs1 crore for development and maintenance of road medians and beautification works at multiple locations across the city.CTR also committed Rs1 crore to set up an e-library at Sant Dnyaneshwar Nagar in Nashik Road, aimed at improving digital access and learning opportunities for students and youths. Other organisations, including Rambandhu Masale, and DG Group, extended support for projects related to transport hubs, sanitation facilities, lighting and landscaping works.In a parallel initiative, Nashik Trimbakeshwar Kumbh Mela Authority (NTKMA) signed an MoU with deAsra Foundation to support 2,000 nano-enterprises across Nashik district. The programme will focus on formalising small businesses, providing training, enabling access to credit and building market linkages, allowing local entrepreneurs to benefit from Kumbh-related economic opportunities.NTKMA commissioner Shekhar Singh said, "The CSR initiatives will create long-term civic assets while enhancing the overall experience for pilgrims and residents during Simhastha 2027," he added.
