Maharashtra: 40 cyclists finish 120-km ride in hot weather conditions
NASHIK:
The ride was planned to welcome the rains. But as it rained a night before, riders couldn't enjoy the showers. On the contrary, they had to face extreme heat. Yet the cyclists successfully participated in the ride. There were two formats of 40-km- and 120-km ride.
The ride started at 6am from Shivshakti Cycles, Gangapur Road. Forty km riders were to go up to Ozar and return to Pimprikar's Hospital by 8.15am whereas 120-km riders were to further pedal up to Sogras Phata near Chandvad and return by 12.40pm.
While returning the riders had to face a great challenge of hot sun, humidity and head wind too. But they braved it all and rode on. On the other side, young kids too enjoyed 20-km fun and joy ride up to Gammat Jammat and back.
They were throughout their journey supplied with sufficient hydration like water, lime water, energy drinks, bananas, oranges, chikki etc.
Bhausaheb Kale of Shivshakti Cycles flagged off the riders. NRM team comprising of Paramjeet and Davinder Singh Bhela, Chandrakant Naik, Mohan Desai and Suresh Dongre ensured meticulous planning and execution.
They were duly assisted by Satish Mahajan, Shishir Acharya, Vaishali Marathe, Yash Desai, Dattatraya Borude and Dinesh Ingole.
Next NRM 3.7 ride has been planned on July 14 as a tribute ride in the loving memory of Jaspal Singh Virdi, former president of Nashik Cyclists.
