Additional traffic personnel deployed at Mumbai Naka to streamline traffic

Nashik: Traffic police have deployed 28 personnel, including traffic wardens, to streamline vehicular movement at the Mumbai Naka traffic junction in view of the ongoing road concreting work. The junction has been witnessing increased congestion over the past few weeks owing to the road concreting work, especially after the work started the main junction under the flyover about three days back. With very little space left for the movement of vehicles, mainly for motorists moving towards the Kathe Galli side from the Mumbai Naka police station side, the junction is witnessing bumper-to-bumper traffic throughout the day.Inspector Dileep Vasave of the city traffic branch said eight personnel, including an officer of the city traffic branch, were deployed at the junction during the morning sessions. "The same number of personnel are deployed in the evening hours, apart from five to six traffic wardens who are there during both the sessions. The movement of traffic has to be regularised on all the roads that meet at the junction. The rush of vehicles has only increased during the past few days," Vasave said."We are putting our best efforts to streamline the traffic. All the traffic personnel have been working six to seven hours at a stretch. Motorists should also try using alternative roads like the one from Indiranagar, the Dwarka junction, etc," Vasave said, adding that the work would continue for a few more days.For the past few months, the NHAI took up the work of putting a concrete layer on the 60km stretch on the Mumbai-Agra highway from Pimpalgaon to Gonde. About 16-17km of this stretch is in Nashik city.
