Triple murder suspect gives police the slip
Nashik: The Panchavati triple-murder suspect, who was nabbed by the Nashik city police in Aligarh, escaped from their custody at the Mathura railway station on Tuesday night.
A senior officer of the Panchavati police station told TOI on Thursday the suspect, Jalaluddin Khan (55), jumped out of the train as soon as it started moving at the Mathura railway station.
“An assistant police inspector and a constable accompanying the suspect were taken by surprise and they too jumped out of the running train, which had already picked up speed. Both the police personnel suffered bruises on their body,” said the official.
Senior police officers said that they have dispatched another team to Mathura to catch the suspect.
Jalaluddin , native of Mathura, had set ablaze Sangita Deore (38), with whom he was in a live-in relationship, her daughter Pritee Shendge (20) and her nine-month-old granddaughter Siddhi on the intervening night of Sunday and Monday at Kalika Nagar of Panchavati.
While Siddhi died on Monday morning soon after she was taken to the Nashik civil hospital, Sangita died on Monday night. Pritee succumbed to her burns on Wednesday evening.
Senior officers had sent a team to Mathura to nab Jalaluddin. The team took a flight from Mumbai to Delhi, from where they reached Mathura by train and arrived in Aligarh by road and nabbed Jalaluddin on Tuesday afternoon.
A couple of days before the three were set ablaze, Sangita had shifted to Kalika Nagar from Nilgari Baug. Pritee had come to stay with her mother on Sunday night, when an argument broke out between Sangita and Jalaluddin.
In the wee hours of Monday, when the trio was asleep, Jalaluddin set them on fire and escaped.
