5k illegal bldgs razed around NAINA

Navi Mumbai: City and Industrial Development Corporation (CIDCO) has taken decisive action against unauthorised constructions and encroachments in the Navi Mumbai Airport Influence Notified Area (NAINA) from 2020 to 2024. More than 5,000 illegal structures have been removed to facilitate the development of a new township based on land pooling. CIDCO has also initiated criminal proceedings against those involved in illegally dumping of debris and soil theft. Despite the challenges faced in removing encroachments, special teams have been deployed to carry out the task effectively. CIDCO chief vigilance officer Suresh Mengde, who conducted the raids, said as many as 48 cases have been registered in the case of unauthorized dumping of debris, soil theft, and illegal transportation, during which 124 vehicles have been confiscated in the late-night operations. “We will continue the drive to crack the whip on all encroachments in the coming days.
