organised by the district sports office. They also qualified for divisional meet to represent Thane and Raigad districts.
The medal winners participated in Raigad and Thane district tournaments held recently.
Those made it to the medal league at the district-level meet include Poorva Gholap, Raag Manas, Mannoor Chahal, Srishti Salvi, Tejas Kumar, Afrah Khatib, Kumar Waghlikar, Avni Khandagle, Anita Choudhary, Vani Agrawal, Aditi Nayak, Shaunak Wanelkar, Deepak Avadhe, Bhagyesh Kamal and Clement Arul.
They played under the banner of Khargharcha Raja Skating Academy (KRSA) which has created a skating rink in sector 5 of the node to promote the game. “Navi Mumbaikars can’t afford to travel to Virar for training, which is why we have developed a skating facility here,” said Vijay Patil, head of KRSA.
Mohammad Siyad, who coaches these kids, said, “This is a huge medal haul won by our kids at the district competition. The skaters have great energy and are sure to bring laurels from higher level contests too.” He added that they will now play for divisional competition to qualify for the state
