Repair work for city gardens rocks standing committee

NAVI MUMBAI: The

standing committee

last week had a detailed discussion over the

garden department

listing 30-odd

repair works for gardens

and

plantations

.

Shiv Sena corporator and member of the committee, Namdev Bhagat, questioned the quality of work undertaken. The corporator expressed doubts on the tenders sought for an inquiry from the committee which has been supported by other members like Sena corporator Vijay Chowgule, NCP corporator Ashok Gurkhe and Congress corporator Meera Patil.

“Most

gardens

are in a bad shape, the trees have wilted and the playthings are either rusted or broken. This raises concerns about the work orders being issued. It is clear that the civic officials are not taking stock of the situation and are blindly believing the contractor,” Bhagat said.

The corporator also questioned the administration’s intention of taking up garden related work.
