3-day drive against old buses to start today

Noida: The

UP transport department

has ordered the ARTO Noida, Rachna Yaduvanshi, to conduct a three-day drive against obsolete

buses

from September 9-11, 2016. V K Singh, additional transport commissioner, in a letter to the Noida transport department, said the permits of most of these buses have expired.

“These bus drivers do not pass the fitness test or follow traffic rules. They also overload passengers which is a serious concern. It is a serious threat to bus commuters. All such buses should be identified and seized,” Singh said.

The transport commissioner said the drive should be coordinated with police officers to ensure easy commute for the dwellers .He also asked the officials concerned to make alternative arrangements when the

old buses

are seized.

ARTO Yaduvanshi

said she has briefed the enforcement officials to conduct the drive in keeping with the directions of the headquarters. “We will try to ensure that no buses ply in the city violate the Motor Vehicles Act,” she said. There are about 200 obsolete buses which have no valid permits to ply in GB Nagar district.
