According to the STF officers, the robbers were arrested around 3.45am on Sunday after police received a tip-off about their movement in Kasna area. A team chased the robbers who were travelling in two SUVs and caught them near Alpha 2.
Rajkumar Mishra, DSP, STF said,“We had earlier busted a gang who had robbed loaded trucks from Amazon company in which one middleman was also arrested for allegedly helping the robbers in selling off the stolen goods. With his inputs, we developed a path to locate these four accused.” The DSP further added that the four accused had rented a flat in Aligarh where they were hiding with the mobile phones robbed along with the truck on July 15. “The accused were selling off the mobile phones in small numbers in Gurgaon. We had received information on Sunday morning that they were allegedly on their way to sell the stolen phones. We reacted promptly and caught them red-handed along with 1, 305 stolen mobile phones worth Rs 1.31 crore,” Mishra added.
The arrested persons were booked under sections 411 (dishonestly receiving stolen property), 414 (assisting in concealment of stolen property) of the IPC. They were produced before a judicial magistrate on Sunday who sent them to jail.
