Cops booked for facilitating their mobile phones to gangster Anil Dujana in Jail

Two cops

entrusted with the responsibility to keep a guard on the gangster Anil Dujana in Maharajganj Jail were booked on Friday for allegedly felicitating gangster’s communication with other gang members using their mobile phones.


The matter came to light after police arrested Ankit Chowdhary, a Dujana gang member on Thursday and checked his mobile phone in which voice notes of Anil Dujana, letters and messages were found. These were all sent by the two constables.

Cops said that Ankit was allegedly running Dujana’s crime syndicate as he was in jail and had also paid Rs 10,000 to one of the constables for felicitating his communication with the gang leader. Dujana was recently in news for getting married on a hearing day at the district court on Feb 15.

The accused constables were identified were Shyam who is currently posted at Maharajganj jail where Anil Dujana is also locked up and Arvind Kumar who is currently in Baliya district but was earlier posted at Maharaj ganj jail.

The incident occurred on Thursday night at around 11:10 PM near Pari Chowk area where the cops arrested Ankit Chowdhary who was wanted in vehicle theft on February 3 in Kasna Police Station.

“Ankit had helped 3 men including his gang member and sharpshooter Anit alias Tota in robbing off a duster from a Kasna based Architect, he was arrested with a stolen Pulsar motorcycle, a knife and his Mobile phone in which we found his conversations with the two constables who had sent him pictures of handwritten letters of Anil Dujana and his voice notes, after questioning, the accused revealed that the two constables used to facilitate his communication with the gang leader by sending his messages, letters, and voice notes, we have also found a message in which Ankit has informed Dujana about Rs 10000 that were transferred to one of constables’ account,” said Vineet Jaiswal, SP(Rural).

He further explained that in the recovered chats and letters Dujana was seen giving instructions to his man on various land deals and regarding a transaction of Rs 20Lakhs from someone, “We are currently investigating the content of the recovered chats and letters which the two have exchanged in last few months, prima facie they appear to be as instructions by Dujana for his man Ankit who was allegedly running his crime syndicate,” said Jaiswal.

The officer also said that that a bigger probe against cops deployed in UP jails is underway because the chats have also revealed that the accused was in contact of other dreaded criminals like Maya Jaat and Balram Thakur who are also locked up in different jails of the state, “In the mobile of the accused gangster, we have also found a video message from a vehicle thief named Maya Jaat who is currently lodged in Luksar jail from where he has recorded the message and text messages from Balram Thakur, the due action will be taken against all those cops who will be found involved in similar practice,” Jaiswal added.

Ramphal Singh, Station House Officer at Kasna Police Station told TOI that the two constables were booked under sections 35 (When such an act is criminal by reason of its being done with a criminal knowledge or intention), 37 (Co-operation by doing one of several acts constituting an offence), 119 (Public servant concealing design to commit offence which it is his duty to prevent), 166 (Public servant disobeying law, with intent to cause injury to any person), along with section 42 of Prison act and section 7 of Prevention of Corruption act of the

Indian Penal Code

, “The probe is lodged, accused cops will be reprimanded on the matter meanwhile the arrested gangster was sent to jails after being produced in court on Friday,” said Singh.
