Dadri: The family members of sub-inspector Akhtar Khan, who was killed at a gangster's hideout in Dadri two days ago, said they would submit a memorandum to Uttar Pradesh chief minister Akhilesh Yadav on Thursday, seeking a CBI probe into his death. Asserting that they had no faith in the UP Police investigation, the family members also alleged that the police are hiding facts.

According to Akhtar Khan's brother Yameen Ahmad, the UP Police is keeping the family in the dark about the investigation. Moreover, they are sheltering the cops who had run away from the spot. "Since the beginning, we had no faith in the probe by UP police. They did not even inform the family before filing the FIR," he said. They will launch a protest if no CBI inquiry is ordered, he added.

The family will submit the memorandum to the CM through the Aligarh district magistrate, Yameen Khan said.

"There is a huge gap between the police

and the local people's version. When Dadri police station incharge Hom Singh Yadav was leading the team, why was my brother asked to enter the house. The FIR states that Hom Singh had taken my brother to hospital. But the locals claim they who took him to hospital. My brother was abandoned on the spot. The policemen had fled from the scene and returned only one-and-a-half hours later. We need a fair probe into the incident. It can be done only by the CBI," he said.

"We were told that Hom Singh Yadav has been suspended. However, on Tuesday we found him enjoying all the facilities at Dadri police station. The senior officers misled us. We have come to know that he is only attached to police lines," he said.

The family also raised doubts about the raid. "The raid was conducted without informing senior police officers. The standard operating procedure was not followed. My brother should have been provided a bullet-proof jacket. This shows the callousness of senior police officers too," Ahmad said.

Meanwhile, there is no headway in the inquiry. "Four police teams are conducting raids in Delhi and UP-NCR. Two surveillence teams are also working on the case. We are doing our best to arrest the criminals," Gautam Budh Nagar senior superintendent of police Kiran S said. Teams of Special Task Force and Special Operations Group are also working on the case. The police have questioned over a dozen people so far, he added.
