How gang duped job seekers with test & training in resort
Noida: A gang claiming to run an NGO allegedly duped several youths from UP and Bihar of lakhs of rupees by promising them jobs of yoga and sports teachers in government and private schools. The ‘candidates’ claimed each of them was charged over Rs 1.5 lakh and underwent training at a
Using the name ‘
Sweta Singh, one of the applicants, alleged that the exam was conducted on March 16, 2020 at three centres in Noida and Ghaziabad, adding that Rs 380 was charged from those in ‘general category’ and Rs 280 from ‘SC/ST and OBC’ candidates.
“Scores of youths appeared in the exam, after which they were asked to attend a three-month training programme at a resort in Rishikesh. While Rs 1.55 lakh was charged from each candidate who attended the training, it was stopped as the accused cited Covid curbs. When we pressured them, they conducted it for only 45 days,” she alleged.
Ved Prakash Upadhyay, an applicant from Varanasi, said while 30 students started the training, only 17-18 persisted. “The others left when they were told it would not continue. Those who demanded that the training be completed were given fake offer letters for private schools in Noida, Ghaziabad and other cities,” he alleged, adding that he was handed an offer letter too in March 2021.
When the candidates contacted the schools, they were informed no such tie-up existed with the so-called NGO, Upadhyay said.
Singh also claimed to have received a job offer of yoga and sports instructor in JPH school in GB Nagar’s Chhapraula, but when she approached it, the principal said ‘a friend’ had informed her that some yoga instructors would come to the institute but they ‘would be paid by the government’.
JPH School principal Anamika Sood said she was duped as well.
“I was approached by a third party who claimed some yoga instructors could train the children. However, when the applicant visited the school, I learnt about the fraud,” she said.
Singh alleged that when applicants approached a Ghaziabad-based school for which job letters had been issued too, the principal denied having any information about their joining.
When the complainants approached Phase III police, a team under the then SHO Jitendra Dikhit detained three people – technical expert Vinit Gupta, trustee Sanjay Chaudhary and founder Vipul from the Sector 64 office of the outfit on March 25, 2021. The trio were let off that same night. The office is now closed.
Complainants alleged that despite repeated complaints, an FIR was not lodged. An investigation has now been restarted after they again approached the office of the police commissioner and DCP (central Noida).
DCP (central Noida) Harish Chander said that the inquiry is being conducted by ACP -1 (central Noida) Abdul Qadir, who said notices have been issued twice to the accused and police will soon recommend the lodging of an FIR. When contacted, outfit chairman Damodar said they have filed a complaint against Singh for leaking their documents and defaming the NGO.
