Produce evidence to establish arrested accused in call centres were merely employees, court tells accused
GREATER NOIDA
: The Surajpur court on Friday reserved its order on the bail plea of the 126 youngsters including the team leaders of the call centre who have been lodged inside jail for running the fake call centre in E block, Sector 63.With most of the lawyers elaborating on the submission that the jailed youngsters
were merely employees
of the call centre claiming that many were working only to make some money unaware about the criminality, the court asked the petitioners to produce any proof like the appointment letters for establishing that the accused youngsters were indeed “employees” of the call centre.“If there is any criminality, it can only be on part of the masterminds like Jimmy Asija, Narendra Pahuja and Sagar Thakkar alias Shaggy who are roaming freely. They have approached the Allahabad High Court claiming that they do not have any link with the call centre,” said one of the at least 10 lawyers representing the accused- many of whom belong to the north east.
The advocates for the accused then produced the identity cards of the accused stating that the cards showed them to be employees of the RFS Services group.
However, as the IO did not turn up, the lawyers representing the 126 accused youngsters argued that the court’s time was being wasted stating that the court had to wait for the IO.
“The IO is not appearing before the court in any of the four proceedings so far. The court is being made to wait for the IO,” said Veer Singh, one of the advocates for the accused.
