NOIDA: An encounter broke out Noida between Sector 58 police and a notorious robber on late Wednesday night. The suspect sustained injuries from police gunfire and was taken to hospital. The authorities seized a motorcycle, five mobile phones and a pistol from him.
When instructed to halt, the suspects attempted to escape on their motorcycle. During pursuit, they fired at the police officers. In response, the police shot back, wounding one suspect identified as Sonu alias Mota.
The police recovered several items from their possession, including a motorcycle, a pistol, ammunition and five stolen mobile phones.
The authorities confirmed that the accused had six previous cases registered against them, involving robbery and theft.
"A checking was being conducted under the direction of Gautam Buddha Nagar Police Commissioner in the border of Noida zone. The police had an encounter with a miscreant at Sector 58. Police was conducting checking near Rabbit Park in Sector 58. A suspicious biker was seen coming towards the Park. He was told to stop but he fired shots at police. The police fired in retaliation. The miscreant was injured," said Noida ADCP Manish Mishra.
He further said that the miscreant has been identified as Sonu alias Mota.
"He is a noted criminal. He is a robber. He has committed many offences in the past. He is aged 22. Police has recovered a bike, 5 mobiles, pistol. He has two more friends and the police is looking for them. The injured accused has been sent to hospital for treatment. We are conducting further probe," he added.
