Ringing Bell’s managing director Mohit Goel said that his firm had planned to deliver smartphones to people at Rs 251. "I had met Vikas Sharma, director of Delhi based Vie Technology Pvt Ltd in August 2015. There were two more persons – Jeetu and Shatrudhan Prasad – with him. They said that they manufacture mobile phones and also have collaborations with some firms in China," he said.

Goel said that he entered into a deal and gave Rs 3.27 crore for delivery of smartphones. "The accused siphoned off the money and did not deliver any goods. In February 2017, some distributors filed a case against me and I was jailed for six months. But they are the real reason behind not delivery of smartphones to the registered customers," he said.

On November 23, Goel filed a case against them in Sector 49 police station. The Noida police on Sunday arrested Vikash Sharma and Jeetu for the fraud.

Goel said that he is still committed to deliver the mobile phones to the customers. "I am now entering into another venture. I will not disclose the details at this stage. But I will provide the mobile phones to the people," he told TOI.
