Social welfare minister Madan Sahni said at least 12 district programme officers and child development project officers in various districts, such as Madhubani, Jehanabad, Bhojpur and Munger, have been suspended for constantly ignoring the government’s warnings.

“We had been regularly warning them of serious action if they don’t improve their style of functioning, but to no avail. The government wants to provide benefits to all children enrolled in anganwadi centres as well as the pregnant women, but our surprise inspections found some officials not discharging their duties properly. Hence, action has been taken against them,” Sahani said. TNN
