Ara jewellery heist: 10 more criminals arrested

Ara: Police arrested 10 more criminals, who were involved in robbery of jewellery worth Rs 10.09 crore from a popular showroom in Ara on March 10. The total number of criminals arrested in the case now has gone up to 15.Bhojpur SP, Raj, said on Sunday that 10 more accused were arrested in the case. The police have procured a production warrant (PW) for two key accused, currently lodged in a jail in West Bengal, and are suspected to be the masterminds of the heist, he said.The arrested criminals have been identified as Amit Kumar, Sumit Kumar, Gaurav Kumar, Abhishek Kumar, Md Chand Alam, Nitin Kumar, Pritam Kumar, Himanshu Kumar, Abhimanyu—all from Vaishali district and Suraj Mandal from Araria district.The police seized four gold biscuits, two gold chains, a bracelet, a gold ring, a pistol, two live cartridges, a car and seven cellphones from their possession.He said earlier the police had arrested five criminals and recovered two out of three bags of jewellery stolen from the showroom.The SP said the police suspect that two notorious criminals, Chandan alias Prince from Vaishali district and Sheru Singh of Buxar district, who are currently lodged in a West Bengal jail, are the masterminds behind the heist.Earlier, the police had arrested Vishal Gupta and Kunal Kumar from Saran district; Suraj Singh and Vishal Singh from Bhojpur district and Gautam Kumar from Vaishali.
