banned sale of crackers

and

plying of private boats

at the

Chhath ghats

to ensure safety of the devotees and the visitors.

At a meeting held recently at the Krishi Bhawan auditorium here with public representatives and officers to review the ongoing preparation for the

Chhath

puja, the DM directed the officers to hold meetings with the Puja organizing committees for providing all basic amenities to the Chhath ‘vratis’.

The Ara municipal corporation and different nagar panchayats were asked to make adequate arrangements for cleanliness , lighting, set up control rooms, medical facility, boats, divers and barricading at the Chhath ghats in their respective jurisdictions. The DM also asked the officials concerned to regulate traffic and provide security at and around the ghats . He said on the occasion of Chhath puja, special attention is given to piety and hence the ghats should be made spick and span.

The DM has also asked all the SDOs , BDOs and COs to strictly monitor the cleanliness campaign. He also directed to depute professional divers, especially at Koilwar and Gangi ghats, where the water level is quite deep .and asked the officials not to leave the district headquarters without his permission in view of the Chhath.
