PATNA: In a gruesome incident, a couple was killed by slashing throat and stabbing multiple times infront of their residence allegedly after dragging them out by their relatives over property dispute at village Jarang Rampur under Belsar police outpost in Sadar subdivision of Vaishali district on Saturday morning.
The slain couple was
Shashi Thakur (35) and wife
Sangeeta Devi
(29). Police said Sangeeta was approximately five-months pregnant.
The couple had a 2-year-old and a 3-year-old son who were inside the residence that time. They were involved in fruit wholesale business.
Police have come to know that 22 kattha ancestral property at Jarang Rampur was root cause of dispute for which Shashi had filed a title suit in court.
Three close relatives of the slain couple also sustained injuries from sharp edged objects in the incident.
They are Shashi’s cousin Harinarayan Thakur (40) and two others whose names could not be known from police immediately.
Police said the trio are undergoing treatment at a hospital at Hajipur and have been taken into custody.
As per police, the incident took place at around 6am and all relatives who lived in the same neighbourhood had escaped.

, under whose jurisdiction the outpost falls, said that Shashi’s body only had an underwear while Sangeeta’s body had a night dress on it.
“It seems the couple had just woken up soon after which a dispute took place and they were murdered by slashing throats using sharp edged objects,” he said.
Kumar said some people in the locality told police that they heard that Shashi first attacked his cousins with sharp edged objects used for dressing coconuts after a dispute.
“Afterwards the cousins and nephews attacked Shashi and his wife and killed them. Sangeeta’s mother Ahilya Devi has lodged FIR against 17 family members of Shashi alleging that they all dragged the couple out of their house and killed them,” SHO said.
The SHO said that the bodies were dumped on a small plot just beside Harinarayan’s residence. Kumar said Harinarayan’s son
Sunny Thakur, who is evading arrest, is prime accused of killing the couple.
He said Shashi’s grandfather
Rajendra Thakur
were four brothers. “Rajendra’s one brother had only a daughter. She had handed over all her property share to Rajendra. Rajendra had three sons,” he said.
SHO said Rajendra’s wife however, gave property share to her two sons and not to Shashi’s father which gave birth to property dispute and finally became the root of the murders.
