: LJP (Ram Vilas) president and Jamui MP

Chirag Paswan

on Wednesday demanded dismissal of the Nitish Kumar government over the “brutal” lathicharge on his party functionaries and workers during the

Raj Bhavan

march on Tuesday.
Chirag said he, along with other party workers, were detained and the police lodged an FIR against his seven office-bearers and not naming him “probably to cause rift in the party”.

and six other party office-bearers have been named in the FIR.
Chirag alleged that CM Nitish was instrumental behind engineering the split in the LJP. He said the police lathicharge was severe in which several office-bearers, including women, of his party were seriously injured. He also displayed the photographs of the injured. In one of the photographs, he showed a policeman threatening to shoot a party worker with his pistol.
Chirag said Nitish had failed to provide jobs to youths. “The youths who had voted for him even in 2005 now feel cheated for lack of job and work opportunities,” he said. Chirag said he would continue to mobilise people of the state on his ‘Bihar First, Bihari First’ call.
