PATNA: A day after the BJP emerged victorious in the prestigious battle of ballots in Kurhani, the Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) has demanded that Chirag Paswan, who campaigned for the NDA in the byelection, should be projected as the CM face of the alliance in the state.
Chirag, who heads the LJP (RV), had campaigned for the BJP candidates in all the three recently held byelections in the state, helping it win two seats, including Kurhani.
“Chirag is the NDA’s best CM face. He is a man of principles, unlike Nitish who joined hands with the forces against whom he fought elections in alliance with the BJP and got people’s mandate,” LJP (RV)’s state youth wing president Ved Prakash Pandey told reporters on Friday.
Pandey added Chirag proved his political strength in Kurhani by helping BJP win the seat. “The BJP had lost the election in alliance with JD(U) in 2020 assembly polls. However, Chirag campaigned for the BJP candidate this time. The result is there for everyone to see,” he said.
Party’s chief spokesperson Rajesh Bhatt echoed Pandey’s tone. “The NDA will definitely win the 2025 assembly elections in the state if Chirag is projected as its CM face,” Bhatt said, adding Chirag’s intensive campaigns proved to be the “game changer” in Kurhani and Gopalganj byelections, while the BJP was able to lower down the victory margin in Mokama.
Curiously, Chirag is currently not part of the NDA. However, keeping in view the challenges in the bypolls, the BJP reached out to Chirag and sought his support. Sources said the BJP leadership is in talks with Chirag to bring him to the NDA fold again.
Meanwhile, state RJD president Jagadanand Singh has suggested Chirag to join the socialist camp, saying his father too believed in removing darkness from the houses of the dalits and poor. “Chirag (which means light in Hindi) is not made for spreading lights in the bungalows of the rich and mighty, but in the huts of the poor,” he said.
