City hospital completes 100 kidney transplants
Patna: Paras HMRI, Patna has completed 100 successful kidney transplants, becoming the first corporate hospital in Bihar to achieve the milestone, hospital officials claimed on Friday.
The achievement was announced at a press conference, where the hospital described it as a significant step towards expanding access to advanced renal care in Bihar and neighbouring states.
Dr Shashi Kumar, director and head of neurosciences, said the milestone reflected both “pride and responsibility”.
“Each procedure represented a new challenge and a new life restored,” he said, crediting the success to experienced clinicians, a trained transplant team, advanced technology and patient trust.
He said the hospital offers comprehensive kidney care services, including dialysis and transplant support, aimed at improving patients’ long-term quality of life.
Zonal director Anil Kumar called the achievement a symbol of “hope and renewed life for hundreds of families”.
Hospital officials said the programme’s success was driven by coordinated efforts of teams from nephrology, urology, critical care, anaesthesia, blood bank, pathology and transplant coordination departments.
A commemorative event will be held in Patna on Saturday, attended by doctors, transplant recipients, donor families and invited guests.
