Patna: BJP MLA from Digha in Patna, Sanjeev Chaurasia, has been appointed the chief whip of the ruling NDA in the Bihar legislative assembly. The third-term MLA holds a strong grip within the party organisation.
Chaurasia hails from the extremely backward classes (EBC) and has a RSS background. He is known for successfully accomplishing his tasks while maintaining a low profile.
CM Samrat Choudhary made the appointments on Friday, including that of JD(U) MLA
Manjit Singh from Barauli as the deputy chief whip. Both MLAs will also be accorded the status of minister of state.
Nine other NDA MLAs have also been appointed as whips in the legislative assembly. They are Gayatri Devi from Parihar, Raju Tiwari from Govindganj, Ramvilas Kamat from Pipra, Sudhanshu Shekhar from Harlakhi, Rana Randhir from Madhuban, Lalit Narayan Mandal from Sultanganj, Krishna Kumar Rishi from Banmankhi, Arun Manjhi from Masaurhi, and Ratnesh Kumar from Patna Sahib.
These appointments have been made with the objective of maintaining party discipline within the legislative assembly, ensuring the attendance of MLAs, and strengthening the coordination regarding govt policies and legislative functions.
