PATNA: State minister for environment, forest, and climate change, Tej Pratap Yadav, on Wednesday announced the target to plant four crore saplings in the state this year.

The minister was speaking after inaugurating three parks in the state capital. These parks are Rajendra Nagar 8C Park, McDowell Golambar Park-2 and McDowell Golambar Park-3 located in Rajendra Nagar. The department has approved Rs 53.96 lakh, Rs 94.65 and Rs. 95.61 lakh, respectively, for development work in the three parks.

"More such parks are currently in development stage and scheduled for inauguration soon. These parks belong to the public, and it is everyone's duty to safeguard them," said Tej Pratap. The minister also planted saplings of peepal, mango and neem in each of the three parks.

All three parks have undergone comprehensive development, including landscaping, planting of flowering plants, provision of drinking water, construction of toilets, walking tracks, store rooms, drainage, deep tubing, entrance gates, garden equipment, and vermicompost units.

"These parks will provide a clean environment and improve the health of people, fostering a connection with nature. We are steadfast in our commitment to expand the green cover across the state. We have set a goal of planting four crore trees this year, which we will achieve within the set timeframe," he said.
