Hospital accountant arrested for taking bribe

Patna: Vigilance investigation bureau (VIB) on Wednesday arrested Manoj Jha, accountant at Lok Nayak Jayaprakash Narayan Hospital, Patna, while he was accepting a bribe of Rs 30,000 in his office. The complaint was filed by one Nihal Kumar from Rohtas district, alleging that the accountant demanded the bribe for processing the pending salary, group insurance, and other govt benefits following the death of Kumar's wife during the COVID-19 pandemic. "The VIB verified the complaint and found evidence of the bribe demand. Consequently, a raid was conducted under the leadership of DSP of vigilance, Shafi Shekhar Chaudhary, leading to Jha's arrest.
