Sitamarhi: Two unidentified armed criminals on a motorcycle shot dead a land dealer, Ram Babu Rai(40) years, on Bhisa Dumra Road on Saturday evening in Sitamarhi district. After the attack, the assailants fled towards Muzaffarpur.
The deceased, a resident of Bhisa village near Sitamarhi, was on his way towards Dumra when the criminals waylaid him and fired three shots at his head, police said.
Dumra police said the victim had a criminal background as well. Three empty cartridges were recovered from the spot. No arrests have been made in connection with the case so far.
Police said several shooting incidents were reported in Sitamarhi district in 2025, in which around half a dozen people lost their lives, raising concerns over law and order in the area.
