: A Patna-based special court for SC/ST Act on Monday sentenced three persons to life imprisonment on charges of murdering a man near
Lakhna Bazar
near Gaurichak around nine years ago. Two of the sentenced persons are brothers.
The special judge (SC/ST Act) Triloki Dubey sentenced Rabindra Malakar, Upendra Malakar and
Mahesh Malakar
to life imprisonment and also imposed a fine of Rs 20,000 each on all three accused persons after finding them guilty of murdering one Bijendra Choudhary alias Punai Choudhary under Section 302 and 201 of the
India Penal Code
and Section 3/2/V of the SC/ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act.
“Rabindra and Upendra are brothers. All three sentenced persons and the deceased were residents of Khaira village under Gaurichak police station of Patna district. The sentenced persons allegedly murdered Bijendra following a trivial dispute on the issue of returning a borrowed water pipeline and threw his body in a roadside ditch near Lakhna Bazar under Gaurichak police station in Patna district,” junior counsel Meena Kumari told TOI over phone on Monday.
Following recovery of the body on the night of April 14 & 15 in 2013 from a roadside ditch, the deceased’s wife Sabita Devi informed police and also registered an FIR with Gaurichak police station in which she named three persons as accused.
Special public prosecutor (SC/ST Act), Patna,

alias Santosh argued the case on behalf of the state, while junior counsel Meena assisted the special PP.
Earlier on March 2, the same court had found all three accused persons guilty of committing the murder.
All the three persons were sent to Beur Central Jail following pronouncement of the judgment, junior counsel Meena said.
