Military ops should not be politicised: Dipankar
Patna: CPI(ML) general secretary Dipankar Bhattacharya on Friday expressed concern over what he described as attempts by the BJP and PM Narendra Modi to use the public sentiment following last month's Pahalgam terror attack and India's subsequent military response – Operation Sindoor – for political mileage.Speaking to reporters, Bhattacharya said the PM addressed rallies in Madhubani and Rajasthan shortly after the April 22 attack that claimed the lives of 26 civilians. He pointed to visual references to Operation Sindoor appearing on railway tickets and cut-outs of the PM in military attire in some areas."Operation Sindoor, a matter of national security, is being used for electoral messaging," he said.Bhattacharya said opposition parties in the INDIA bloc had raised several questions about the attack and the sudden ceasefire, but have yet to receive responses from the Centre. "Even the demand for a special session of Parliament has not been considered. Instead, all-party delegations were sent abroad to highlight Pakistan's role in harbouring terrorism," he added.CPI(ML) MP Rajaram Singh announced planned protests in nine districts on May 28, aimed at highlighting farmers' concerns ahead of the PM's rally in Bikramganj on May 30.Get the latest lifestyle updates on Times of India, along with Brother's Day wishes, messages and quotes !
