Patna: State social welfare minister

Madan Sahni

inaugurated the Mahila Udyami Mela, ‘Vasantotsav’, at

Gyan Bhawan

here on Friday.
Organized by the

Women and Child Development Corporation

(WDC), Bihar, women entrepreneurs from all over the state have set up stalls of Indian and western wear, plants, jewellery, Madhubani paintings, traditional puppets, handcrafted items, chocolates and a lot more.
The fair will continue till March 2.
“We want to organize ‘Vasantotsav’ in other parts of the state, including Madhubani and Darbhanga, as it is not easy for women to frequently go out of their hometown. We want to provide more such opportunities and a broader market for women entrepreneurs in Bihar, so that they may sell their products at a better rate and become more confident and independent,” the minister said.
Around 200 stalls have been set up this time with the help of Bihar Mahila Udyog Sangh, Upendra Maharathi Sansthan, Jeevika and a few other NGOs.
“I have decided to step out of my comfort zone and set up my stall here to attract customers,” said

Waheeda Ahmad
