Minor boy, finance agent rescued within hours of kidnapping in Bhagalpur
Bhagalpur: The Bhagalpur police, led by SSP Hriday Kant and City SP Shubhank Mishra, resolved two high-profile kidnapping cases. Both victims — a 10-year-old boy and a 30-year-old finance agent — were rescued within hours of their abductions.Mushtar Ahmed alias Mikku, a resident of Fatehpur village under the Industrial police station area, was abducted near a mango orchard while returning home around 7pm on Saturday. His family received a ransom demand of Rs 25 lakh and immediately alerted the police.The SSP formed a special investigation team (SIT) led by City SP Shubhank Mishra. The SIT, working alongside SHOs from Industrial and other police stations, used mobile tower tracking and technical surveillance to raid multiple locations, including Industrial areas, Sabour and Tilkamanjhi.Fearing police action, the kidnappers released Ahmed near his house early Sunday morning. An adolescent, described as a friend of the kidnapped boy and involved in conducting reconnaissance, was identified, along with three others connected to the kidnapping. The police recovered a bicycle and a cellphone used in the crime.In another case, Rajiv Ranjan Sharma, a loan facilitator with a private bank and a resident of Mirjanhat under Babbarganj police station, was kidnapped on Jan 10, in the Katoria area of Banka district. Sharma had gone to meet a customer when his family received ransom demands of Rs 5 lakh, accompanied by threats of harm.The SSP formed another SIT, which included the city SP, city DSP and teams from Belhar, Katoria and Mohanpur police stations in Banka. Using technical surveillance, the team tracked the kidnappers' movements and raided suspected hideouts in the Katoria forest area.Sharma was rescued early Sunday and a vehicle used by the kidnappers was seized. The vehicle contained a sharp knife and a cellphone. The kidnappers had been shifting locations to evade arrest but were eventually cornered."Solving both abduction cases and rescuing the victims is a major achievement for Bhagalpur police.
