Bihar: Musahari residents fear action, flee homes

A crowd of around 200 people had mercilessly thrashed three persons, who were passing through the musahari on Saturday night, on the rumours of child theft. While Chandan Kumar (35) of Gardanibagh and Shubham Kumar (30) of Mashrakh in Saran district survived after police rescued them, an unidentified man succumbed to his injuries.
Sub-inspector Uma Shankar, ASI Dharma Prasad Rai and two constables had also received injuries in the mob attack while trying to rescue the victims. Altogether 32 persons were arrested in this connection. Bhanu said six more persons were identified in the video of the lynching incident. “Raids are on to nab them and identify more people who had instigated the mob,” he said.
Meanwhile, the person who was lynched at Kalichak village under Dhanarua police station area, also on Saturday, could not be identified till Wednesday and his body would be now disposed of according to rules, SHO Suman Kumar said. “Two persons were arrested on the basis of a video of the incident,” he said.
