PPU launches admission process for UG courses

Patna: Patliputra University (PPU) on Wednesday launched the admission process for its four-year undergraduate (UG) degree Part-I programme for the academic session 2026-27, following the opening of the ‘Samarth’ admission portal.

According to PPU dean of students’ welfare (DSW) Rajeev Ranjan, the university witnessed an encouraging response on the very first day, with nearly 4,300 students submitting online applications for regular undergraduate courses. “The last date for submission of online applications is May 31. Interested candidates can apply through the university portal ppup.ac.in by clicking on the admission link or directly through the ppupadm.samarth.edu.in,” he said.

According to the admission notification, the application fee has been fixed at Rs 600 for candidates belonging to general, BC-I, BC-II and EWS categories, while scheduled caste (SC) and scheduled tribe (ST) applicants will have to pay Rs 450 each. “Students are required to upload several documents during the online application process, including Matriculation and Intermediate marksheets, caste certificate, Aadhaar card and APAAR ID, if available,” he said.

Around 1.25 lakh students are expected to be admitted this year across constituent, affiliated and 16 newly-established degree colleges functioning at the block level located in Patna and Nalanda districts. “The university will also introduce self-financed courses in artificial intelligence (AI) and water management at B D College from the current academic session,” Ranjan said, adding that the annual fee for the AI course has been fixed at Rs 51,000 while students opting for the water management programme will have to pay Rs 21,000 per year.

According to sources, the university had received around 1.11 lakh applications last year, of which nearly 93,000 students secured admission in various undergraduate programmes.

In addition, the university has postponed the Part II second semester examination (academic session 2025-29) which was scheduled to be held on May 23, due to some unavoidable reasons. The examination will now be held on May 27 at the same centres, said PPU examination controller Manoj Kumar.
