Puja pandals asked to install CCTV cameras

DM

) Sanjiv Kumar on Friday held a meeting with senior district administration and police officials to review security measures for Durga Puja and Muharram.

“People from both communities should join hands to make Durga Puja and Muharram peaceful,” the DM said. He warned troublemakers and anti-social elements of stern action if any attempt is made to breach peace and communal harmony in the district.

The DM asked the officials to make it sure that all puja committees procure licence for installation, procession and immersion of the idols. Puja organisers have also been asked to install

cameras and fire extinguishers at the pandals. The SDOs, on the other hand, have been asked to ensure that noise level does not exceed 80 decibels at the pandals. “The puja organisers should refrain from playing vulgar songs,” the DM said, adding professional divers will be deputed at the immersion sites and danger mark will be put up after measuring the depth of the water level. The DM also asked the electricity department officials to repair damaged wires and electric poles.

The DM asked the puja organizers to fix the immersion date and route of processions in advance. He directed the police officials to launch an intense vehicle checking drive and ensure strict compliance of prohibition.
