Rescued child workers don’t go to school: Study

ARA: Prohibition is ushering in positive changes in the state. Following the strict implementation of the new liquor law, people, especially women, here have no hesitation in lodging complaints against their family members for violating the law and consuming liquor.

Jagdishpur police station SHO Baidyanath Choudhary said over 20 cases have been lodged with this police station recently. These cases were lodged by either housewives against their husbands or sons against their fathers.

On Tuesday, one Bittu Singh, who works in a private firm in Delhi, called up the Jagdishpur police station to lodge a complaint against his father Rambihari Singh (60), who is a retired Armyman and a resident of Babhiniyav village. Rambihari often used to create ruckus and beat up family members in an inebriated condition. He was arrested by the SHO.

Town police station SHO Jaiprakash Singh echoed the same views. About 10 such cases have come to the Town police station ever since the prohibition law came into force. In most of the cases, family members fed up with the tantrums of their alcoholic kin, inform police and get them arrested.

Mufassil police station SHO Shrikant Paswan also said that there has been a dramatic change in the mindset of people. They are shedding their inhibitions and lodging complaints against their family members who violate the liquor law. “Our police station has also received many such complaints since the prohibition law came into force . An awareness has definitely been created among the people,” said Paswan.
