PATNA: The Muzaffarpur police on Thursday arrested serial killer Shivchand Paswan alias Bholwa who had committed three murders between April 30 and May 8 in Kolhua Paigambarpur locality under Ahiyapur police station area of the Muzaffarpur district.
Muzaffarpur SSP Rakesh Kumar said that Paswan used to commit murders using rough tools like wooden hammer, iron rod or any such items, and his targets were daily wage earners or night guards. He committed murders for cash and cellphones, which he used to sell at cheap rates.
The investigation revealed that the modus operandi and motive behind the three murders appeared to be the same. Accordingly, police personnel in civil clothes were deployed in Kolhua Paigambarpur locality. Soon, they learned that a woman was selling cellphones at cheap rates, and there were a number of buyers.
The police caught hold of one of the buyers. The details of the mobile phone revealed that it belonged to one of the three people who had been murdered.
Upon being asked about it, the buyer revealed the name of the woman who sold the mobile phones.
"On the basis of the lead provided by the cellphone buyer, we found out the woman. On being quizzed, she disclosed Bholwa’s name from whom she used to get mobile phones. The police eventually arrested Bholwa,” the SSP said.
