Some people trying to create 'meaningless' disputes in country: Nitish Kumar

PATNA: Making a veiled attack on loudmouth BJP leaders, Bihar CM Nitish Kumar on Tuesday said some people are trying to create “meaningless" disputes in the country and today they are talking about even those things which are not mentioned anywhere in the Constitution.

Addressing a gathering of thousands of Haj pilgrims and their relatives during ‘Duaiya Majlis’ organized to see-off the pilgrims from the Haj Bhawan here, Nitish also said that frequent attempts were being made to change the country’s history as well as the facts related to the freedom struggle.

‘Duaiya Majlis’ was organized by the Bihar State Haj Committee to see-off all those pilgrims going on Hajj. A total of 5,638 people from Bihar are going on Hajj pilgrimage. Of the total, 2,399 pilgrims are women.

Appealing to the Haj pilgrims to do a prayer for safety and security of the country and its people, Nitish further said, “People of Muslim community have not come into the country from other places. They are natives of this place. My father told all this to me during my childhood. We do not make any difference among the members of Hindu and Muslim communities.”

The CM also said this year a total of 5,638 people from Bihar were going on the Haj pilgrimage. “It a matter of great happiness that many of them (2,399) are women. I never saw such a large number of people from Bihar going on the Haj pilgrimage. I extend my good wishes to all Haj pilgrims,” Nitish said.

The CM also recalled how no Haj pilgrims from Bihar could go on the Haj pilgrimage in 2020 and 2021 due to the spread of covid-19 infection. “In 2022, only few pilgrims went because people above the age of 65 were not allowed to go on Hajj pilgrimage,” Nitish said.

Earlier, the state’s minority welfare minister Jama Khan and the Bihar State Haj Committee chairman Abdul Haque welcomed the CM by offering him flower bouquets and ‘angvashtram’ when he reached the Haj Bhawan to participate in the ‘Duaiya Majlis.’

Deputy CM Tejashwi Yadav, minister Jama Khan and state’s chief secretary Amir Subhani also addressed the Haj pilgrims before their ‘see-off’ programme.
