Patna: Tight security for I-Day at Gandhi Maidan
PATNA:
Ravi asked the building construction department to level the ground at Gandhi Maidan by using sand, especially in the portions where rainwater has accumulated. “Bomb disposal squads will be deployed in all gates. Anti-sabotage operations will also be carried out to avoid any untoward incident,” the DM said, adding altogether 36 CCTV cameras will be installed in and around Gandhi Maidan to keep a watch on the movement of visitors.
The Patna civil surgeon has been asked to set up medical centres near the four main gates of the Maidan. Ten ambulances with paramedics and necessary medicines will also be kept ready. Fire service officials have been asked to form a team of fire fighters to meet any eventuality.
Altogether 14 government departments will display their tableaux on Independence Day this year. The national flag will be unfurled by chief minister Nitish Kumar at 9am.
Coloured cards will be provided to people parking their vehicles at the designated spots. While blue card holders or VVIPs will park their vehicles near gate number 10, the violet card holders will be allotted parking space on the western side of the Maidan. Similarly, the green card holders will be allowed to park their vehicles on the eastern side and red card holders near gate number 11.
People will be allowed to park their two-wheelers only near gate numbers 6 and 7. Students will use gate numbers 2, 3 and 4 to enter the Maidan and women visitors gate numbers 12 and 13. Pink cards will be provided to freedom fighters and their family members to enter the Maidan.
