Uttar Pradesh CM Yogi Adityanath lashes out at RJD and Congress over ‘burqa’ row
Patna: Uttar Pradesh CM Yogi Adityanath on Thursday launched a scathing attack on the , alleging that the two parties and their allies are playing the game of development versus ‘burqa’ in the Bihar elections.
“If you have to show your identity and face when travelling anywhere in the world, what’s the problem with voting?” he asked.
Addressing a gathering at Danapur on the occasion of nomination papers filed by BJP candidate and former union minister Ram Kripal Yadav, Yogi said the opposition parties want to steal the rights of bona fide citizens by taking votes from ‘ghuspaithiyas’ (infiltrators). “But this will not be allowed anymore. Under the leadership of PM Narendra Modi at the Centre and CM Nitish Kumar in the state, Bihar will reach new heights,” he said.
The UP CM said while the citizens of Bihar want to focus on development, the RJD, Congress and their allies engage in debates over the ‘burqa’.
“The leaders of these parties are in favour of fake polling, which is a major challenge to democracy. When the youth of Bihar want to move forward with development on the basis of their talent, the RJD and Congress want infiltrators to vote under the guise of the burqa. This would be a robbery of the rights of the people of Bihar, which will never be allowed to happen. When every voter talks about casting their vote by identifying themselves with an ID card, it’s not right to talk about voting while hiding identity under a burqa. When the Election Commission is moving strongly in this direction, these people are spreading false propaganda,” Yogi said.
He praised the NDA govt and criticised the opposition, saying the welfare of the poor has never been their priority. “Their agenda is only their own family welfare. Only the NDA govt can control their corruption. You must have seen that the mafias in UP were sent to hell. In UP, notorious criminals who spread anarchy are now facing their own plight. Today, the Modi govt is providing housing to the poor. Congress could have also done this, but did not,” he said.
