Veer Kunwar Singh University celebrates silver jubilee

VKSU

) celebrated its silver jubilee function with great fervour and renewed zest on the varsity campus at Ara on Friday.

The university, which was carved out of the

Magadh University

in 1992, has 17 constituent and 55 affiliated colleges functioning under it. It caters to the needs of four districts namely Bhojpur, Buxar, Kaimur and Rohtas, where its different colleges are situated.

The chief guest at the silver jubillee function was

Patna University

VC Rash Bihari Prasad Singh.

Singh, while addressing a gathering on the occasion stressed upon the need to increase gross enrolment ratio in the universities to incorporate more and more students in the higher education in Bihar. “Bihar has a glorious history as far as education is concerned and the state still has the potential to revive that glory by excelling in the field of academics,” said the PU VC.

While thanking the guests, VKSU VC Syed Mumtazuddin said that when he took charge of the university in the beginning of this year, only 3 colleges out of 17 constituent colleges of the university had been able to get accreditation from NAAC, but today 9 colleges of VKSU have been accredited by NAAC. He said the university will also get

NAAC

accreditation very soon .

Former VKSU VC IC Kumar said that stress should be laid on research. Besides him Ara MLA Anwar Alam, college principals, teachers, students and non-teaching employees also attended the function
